LOWER TOWNSHIP POLICE RESPOND TO ROBBERY IN NORTH CAPE MAY

Lower Township Police respond to a report of a strong arm robbery at the Family Dollar Store in North Cape May on Tuesday. The manager said a while male who was approximately 20-years-old concealed multiple items in a bag and assaulted the female manager of the store. An investigation led police to arrest John T. Matthews age 20 of the 100 block of Harmony Road in North Cape May in the vicinity of the Channel Apartments Complex. Matthews was arrested at the scene and transported to Lower Township Police Department for processing where he was charged with a second degree count of robbery and one count of theft of movable property. He was placed on a warrant with bail set at $20,000.00 full cash. The manager sustained visible bruising to her arms and suffered lower back pain and was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center by Lower Township Rescue Squad for treatment of her injuries
