UPDATE: MIDDLE THOROFARE BRIDGE HAS BEEN OPENED TO TRAFFIC THURSDAY AFTERNOON

Lower Township Police announced the temporary closure of the Middle Thorofare Bridge that connects Diamond Beach to the mainland.  The bridge has been closed due to a sinkhole.  The bridge will be closed for a few hours until a permanent repair can be made next week.  A steel plate is being installed for the time being.

Note:  The Lower Township PD announced that the bridge was again open to traffic shortly after 4pm Thursday.
