LOWER TOWNSHIP PASSES BUDGET WITH ONE CENT INCREASE

A small tax increase has been finalized in Lower Township. Council approved a one-cent increase to the local purpose tax  rate. Deputy Mayor Kevin Lare talked to Coastal Broadcasting, saying he is never happy with a tax increase, but was proud no services were reduced and no layoffs took place. The new tax rate comes in at 44.3 cents per $100 assessed valuation. The original proposed budget had a 1.7-cent increase. It was amended to bring it down to one cent.
