LOWER COUNCIL MAY ASK COUNTY TO CREATE NO-PASSING ZONE ON SEASHORE RD.

Some concerned residents in Lower Township and the recommendations of a council member could lead to a no-passing zone on a portion of Seashore Rd. Councilman Erik Simonsen noted that the area of road in question was from the Canal Bridge into West Cape May. Simonsen said that some residents brought their concern of the bike paths on both sides and that there have been a number of close calls.

Manager Mike Voll said he inspected the area and said council will vote on the matter in the future. Council’s vote would be to petition Cape May County to make it a no-passing zone. The speed limit is 40 m.p.h. and especially in the summer, the roadway there gets very busy. Simonsen said he thought it was in the best interest of safety for the county to address this roadway.
