LOTTERY WINNERS COULD BE PAYING MORE IN TAXES

A bill is getting consideration in Trenton to make lottery winners fork over more money in taxes. The measure would take an additional .5 percent towards after school programs for students in at-risk schools. New Jersey already charges close to 11 percent taxes on lottery winnings, plus whatever income taxes the federal government charges. The charge would be on winnings of $600 or more.
