LOCAL TOWNS HAVE TO SATISFY OPEN RECORDS REQUESTS FROM OUT OF STATE

Local governments have to satisfy open public records requests, even from individuals who don’t live in New Jersey.  An appellate court overturned a lower court ruling and decided that even non-state residents must provide written public records to people who don’t live here.  The New Jersey Legislature created the Open Public Records Act but also exempted itself from the regulations.
