LOCAL PITCHER SELECTED BY BOSTON RED SOX

A pitcher at Lower Cape May Regional High School was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the recent draft.  Josh Pennington was taken in the 29th round by the Red Sox late Saturday afternoon.  Pennington was supposed to be taken higher in the draft but he suffered an arm injury that will require the so called Tommy John surgery in late June.  Pennington told the Gazette Leader’s Brian Cunniff that the Red Sox was the team that he really wanted to select him, and they did.
