LAWMAKERS VOTE TO BAN SMOKING FROM PUBLIC PARKS AND BEACHES

State lawmakers in both the Senate and Assembly approved a measure Monday that would ban smoking from public beaches and parks.  Exemptions are made for any parking lot adjacent to a public space; local towns may designate up to 15 percent of a public beach for smoking.  The measure goes before the full Assembly on Thursday.
