LAWMAKERS CONSIDERING MEASURE TO DENY BAIL IN SOME INSTANCES

Voters could have their say on a constitutional amendment. Lawmakers in Trenton are considering putting a ballot question together for Nov., which would allow judges in some instances to deny bail to a suspect. The measure is aimed at keep violent offenders off the streets and from possibly committing another crime. The bill would need approval by August to go onto the ballot.
