LAWMAKERS TO CONSIDER A BILL TO BAN BEACH SMOKING

Lawmakers in Trenton are poised to vote on a bill that would prohibit smoking on any beach in New Jersey.  Committees will meet on the measure that would allow only 15 percent or less of the beach to be designated for smoking.  Violators would face fines starting at $250.  There’s no language in the bill suggesting who would enforce the ban.
