A law firm has been disqualified from representing the City of Wildwood in an attempt to obtain a video tape from Dec. 2000 that allegedly shows a Wildwood police officer using excessive force. Cape May County Prosecutor Robert Taylor made that announcement on Tuesday. Judge Nelson Johnson said there was a conflict for the law firm of Barker, Scott, and Gelfand. The same law firm was used by Capt. Robert Regalbuto during a 2005 lawsuit when Mayor Gary DeMarzo was not in office and was trying to get the tape as evidence in his personal lawsuit against the city and others.

Taylor, who is in possession of the tape, said he hopes that DeMarzo will drop the issue, “now that he has wasted about $10,000 of city funds.”
