JUVENILE INJURED IN WEEKEND ACCIDENT

Lower_Township_PoliceA 17-year-old was ejected from a pick up truck during an accident in Lower Township. Police there say that 18-year-old Brian Kurtz was operating a Chevy pick-up truck in Oero’s Pit with two 16-year-olds and one 17-year-old riding in the bed of his truck. Kurtz then accelerated up a large sand dune hill. It is reported that one of the passengers jumped out of the truck just prior to the vehicle going air born. The 17-year-old then was ejected from the bed of the vehicle and fell a significant distance before hitting the ground.

Kurtz was issued summonses for reckless driving, allowing passengers to ride on parts not intended, and failure to wear a seat belt.

The juvenile was treated for a possible broken leg and transported to the Atlantic City Trauma Center.
