INVESTIGATION INTO FATAL ACCIDENT AT RICHARD STOCKTON COLLEGE

A single-vehicle crash on the campus of Richard Stockton College on Tuesday killed one student and injured another, Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel announced.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, authorities from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, Galloway Township Police Department and Stockton College Police Department responded to the scene of the crash. A vehicle was traveling on Stockton’s campus when it impacted with a deer and then several trees, injuring the driver, Joao Simoes, 21, of Newark, and killing the passenger, Joseph Miller, of Medford, who would have been 22 on Thursday. Mr. Simoes was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
