HS HOOPS WRAPUP: MIDDLE GIRLS IN SOUTH JERSEY FINAL, CATHOLIC TEAMS WIN

A huge weekend in high school basketball started Friday night with the Middle Township Lady Panthers advancing to the South Jersey Group II championship game with a 42-40 upset win over top seeded Sterling Friday night.  Middle will visit second seeded Manchester Township Tuesday at 5:30pm.

Wildwood Catholic boys knocked off Holy Spirit, 85-47 Friday night to advance to the South Jersey Non Public B semifinal round.  The Crusaders will battle Immaculata at home Monday at 7:000pm.  The Wildwood Catholic girls’ team advanced to the South Jersey Non Public B semis with a 59-49 win over Gill St. Bernard’s Friday night.  Marianna Papazoglou scored 29 points giving her 1,000 points in only her second year of varsity play.

On Saturday, Wildwood boys visit Glassboro in the South Jersey Group I semifinal game at 1:00pm, and Wildwood girls host Schalick in the South Jersey Group I semifinal, also at 1:00pm.  The South Jersey Group III semifinal game at 4:00pm features Ocean City hosting Toms River East.  The winner will battle either Mainland or Winslow Township for the title.
