HOMELESS MAN HIT BY CAR IN CRITICAL CONDITION

Police report that a wheelchair-bound homeless man who was struck by a car Wednesday night is listed in critical condition in an Atlantic City hospital. Timothy McCart, 55, was crossing Route 47 in Rio Grande in front of the Village Shoppes around 8:20 p.m. when he was hit by a westbound Ford Focus driven by Joseph Walczyk Jr., 19, of Dennis Township.
The Press of Atlantic City reports that McCart was homeless for almost a year and living in a tent in the woods in Rio Grande. He reportedly was just a few days away from receiving hotel vouchers to get him off the street. The accident is under investigation by the Middle Township Fatal Crash Unit.
