GOVERNOR APPROVES VOLUNTARY FURLOUGH PROGRAM IN ORDER TO AVOID LAYOFFS

Governor Phil Murphy has signed a law that creates a voluntary furlough program in order to avoid layoffs in state government.  Murphy signed the plan as the state is billions of dollars in the red and tax revenue drops due to the coronavirus pandemic.  Murphy has warned of major layoffs unless loans or a federal bailout come to New Jersey.
