GAS LEAK SHUTS DOWN GAS STATION FOR AN HOUR

Middle Township PoliceA gas leak was reported in Middle Township on Monday. Police there responded to the Gulf station in Rio Grande. While a gas station employee was filling the gas tank on a boat, the employee mistook the rod holder for the gas tank. The boat was filled with $75 worth of gas. The boats automatic bilge pump turned on and spilled gas in the parking lot. The Rio Grande Fire Department along with the Cape May County Hazardous Material team responded to the scene. The gas station was closed for about an hour for the cleanup.
