FOREST FIRE NOW UNDER CONTROL IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY

A major forest fire that sent smoke to Cape May County this week is now declared under control.  State officials say a fire that scorched approximately 1,500 acres in Downe Township was brought under control during the overnight hours.  A few hotspots still remain but they could be doused by some rain Friday evening.  No injuries are reported.
