Cape May can finally move forward with its convention hall project. The Cape May Council met on Tuesday and awarded a $7.5 million contract to Ogren Construction. That firm will be in charge of building a new convention hall on the promenade in Cape May. Cape May city officials are hopeful that the new convention hall will be open in time for Memorial Day weekend, 2012. Cape May had rejected earlier bids because they were too high; the city since scaled down the project.
