FATAL HEAD ON CRASH ON ROUTE 55, DRIVER FELL ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL

A head on crash on Route 55 early Thursday morning claimed the life of a Philadelphia woman who had been living recently in Avalon.  62 year old Lydia Brannon was killed when her vehicle crashed head on with another car just after dawn in Maurice River Township.  State Police say a 27 year old man driving a pickup truck fell asleep at the wheel and collided with Brannon’s vehicle.  Her car hit another truck driven by a Maryland man.  Authorities continue their investigation today.
