EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP MAN SENTENCED IN BANK ROBBERIES

A Superior Court Judge sentenced an Egg Harbor Township man to 19 years in prison on Friday for two first-degree bank robberies committed in July 2009, Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel stated.
Munir Shakir, 31, admitted robbing two Egg Harbor Township banks at a May 19, 2011 plea hearing. He must serve 85-percent of his prison term, or 16 years, one month and 24 days, before becoming eligible for parole. Upon release, he will be subject to five years of parole supervision. In addition, the Judge ordered restitution in the amount of $3,232, according to Assistant Prosecutor Despina Hess, who represented the state at sentencing.
