The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office and the Ventnor Police Department conducted a DWI checkpoint over the weekend, which resulted in one arrest for Driving While Intoxicated and the issuance of a number of summonses for motor vehicle violations, Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel announced on Monday.
The checkpoint, which lasted six hours, was conducted on Atlantic Avenue in both the east and west bound lanes on Saturday into the early morning hours of Sunday. A total of 1,103 vehicles entered the checkpoint. Several vehicles were directed into a secondary area for observed violations, Prosecutor Housel said.
In addition to one DWI arrest, one person was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance and several summonses were issued for various motor vehicle offenses.
The checkpoint was staffed with two Drug Recognition Experts.
