DWI AND ASSAULT CHARGES STEM FROM MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT

An accident early Sunday morning resulted from drunk driving according to police. Lower Township Police say the collision of a 1991 Chevy work van and a 2002 Chevy Blazer had two people entrapped in the blazer. The van was operated by Jarred Matthews who crossed into the opposite lane of traffic and hit a vehicle operated by Darren Walker. Matthews was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to maintain a lane, and two counts of assault with a motor vehicle. One female passenger was taken to the Atlantic City Medical Center, all others were brought to Cape Regional Medical Center.
