DUNES PROTECT HOMES, BUT MARGATE DOESN’T WANT THEM

Even though it was proven in many shore communities that dunes protect homes and property during a storm…that’s not the case in Margate.  Officials there will meet on Wednesday afternoon to decide if a referendum should be placed on the November ballot that would seek a legal injunction against the United States Army Corps of Engineers to build a dune system for Margate.  Some residents complain that dunes would block views; experts say there would be no homes with views if no dunes are built.
