New Jersey lawmakers approved a measure last night sure to make parents unhappy. The state legislature passed a measure that will require even more practice time for teenager drivers and mandates that parents take a course in teen driver safety as well. The orientation for parents could be accomplished online or through a program administered by the state. A teenager’s drivers permit phase is also extended from six months to one year. If the measure is approved by the governor, it could take affect in early 2013.
