DID OLIVER ASK CHRISTIE FOR HELP TO KEEP SPEAKERSHIP

A major deal is alleged to have been met by Gov. Chris Christie and Assembly Speaker Shelia Oliver in order to get a benefits reform package passed for public workers. Christie talked publicly saying that Oliver went to him and said she needed him to get the whole Republican caucus in the Assembly to support her if she posted the bill, because she was worried that the Democrats would try and remove her as speaker. The Star-Ledger reports that Oliver told the paper that the conversation never happened and called him “mentally deranged.”
