DENNISVILLE RESIDENTS OPPOSE WIDENING OF ROUTE 47

Residents of Dennisville have chosen to expand their historic district to prevent a future expansion of Route 47 through their community. Organizers of the historic district told The Press of Atlantic City that they want to protect their unique village from a widening of Route 47, which could encroach on adjacent properties. Boundaries for the new historic district would include a four-mile area of Delsea Drive from the border of Middle Township to Jakes Landing Road. According to the article the NJ Department of Transportation has no current plans for expanding the roadway, but lists it as a potential four-lane highway.
