DEMONSTRATION HELD TO SAY "NO" TO OFFSHORE DRILLING

Nearly three dozen beaches in New Jersey were the site of large numbers of people holding hands and saying they don’t want offshore oil drilling near New Jersey. The large outcry is coming a couple of months after the oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico by BP. President Barack Obama had said earlier in the year that drilling could expand to the Atlantic Coast, with one site a mere 15 miles from Cape May. The demonstration was held as a way to show many people’s belief that drilling should not take place near New Jersey’s beaches.
