DEMOCRATS FIGHT OVER WHO WILL GET FIRST CHANCE AT EDUCATION COMMISSIONER

Gov. Chris Christie nominated Christopher Cerf to be the next education commissioner, but there is a disagreement on who should be first allowed to question him in the senate, before he is confirmed. Sen. Ronald Rice is using “senatorial courtesy” to block his nomination, since Cerf is from his district. Rice wants to talk with Cerf in the Joint Committee on Public Education. The Star-Ledger reports that Senate President Steve Sweeney wants Cerf in front of the Judiciary Committee before anyone else.
