COUNTY SHERIFF NAMED TO HEAD UP SPECIAL COMMITTEE

cape may county sheriffCape May County Sheriff Gary Schaffer has been appointed Chairman of the New Jersey Police Training Commission Appeals and Legislation Committee. Sheriff Schaffer has served on the Commission for more than seven years.

The New Jersey Police Training Commission is responsible and overseas law enforcement training in New Jersey.  The Commission has 18 members representing various entities in the state. Deputy Attorney General John Quelch is assigned by the New Jersey Attorney General as Director of the Commission. The Commission is divided in two sub-committees; the Standards Committee and the Appeals and Legislation Committee.

Sheriff Schaffer replaces Commissioner Cathy Frank-White as Chairperson of the Appeals and Legislation Committee.  Sheriff Schaffer said, “It has been a privilege to serve on the Commission.  I have served on the Standards Committee for most of my tenure and now on the Legislation and Appeals Committee. Commissioner Frank-White has done an outstanding job as Chairperson and I have always admired her leadership ability. I look forward to continuing the positive direction she had taken the Police Training Commission on important decisions that must be made.”
