COUNTY PLANS VALENTINE'S TRIP TO HONOR VETERANS

Cape May County Freeholder Gerald M. Thornton is pleased to announce that the Cape May County Veterans’ Bureau is sponsoring the 27th Valentine’s trip to the Wilmington V. A. Hospital and New Jersey Veterans’ Memorial Home in Vineland on Wednesday, February 16, 2011.

Valentine’s Day cards are being made by Cape May County school children to be distributed to the hospitalized veterans at both facilities. Additionally, veterans’ organizations and their auxiliaries are currently collecting donations from businesses throughout the county for gift bags that will be distributed along with the cards to hospitalized veterans.

Cape May County Fare Free Transportation is providing the transportation to either the Wilmington V. A. Hospital or the New Jersey Veterans’ Memorial Home located in Vineland.  Buses will depart from the Social Services Building, 4005 Route 9 South in Rio Grande at approximately 8:30 a.m.  Refreshments will be available before departure in the Social Services Building.

Freeholder Thornton said, “I am so proud of this annual event and the participation we receive from our businesses, school children and veterans’ organizations in the County.  It is extremely important that we continue to honor our veterans and especially take time to visit our hospitalized veterans, who have given so much to preserve our freedom.”
