COUNTY HOLDS DISASTER PREPAREDNESS CONFERENCE

Cape May County held its own disaster preparedness conference on Tuesday at the county administration building at Crest Haven.  Local lawmakers and officials discussed the need for getting the word out during storm events; many radio stations in Cape May County went dark during the major blizzard that impacted the county back in February.  Coastal Broadcasting’s own WCZT and WFNE radio stations were brought up during the conference, and officials discussed this company’s plan to seek grant money to help finance emergency generators that would keep both stations on the air during a major storm.  State Senator Jeff Van Drew, who appeared on WCZT’s “Buy Shore Real Estate.Com” radio show this past Sunday, again addressed the need for communities to recognize that some people will not evacuate without their pets.
