CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON LONGPORT BRIDGE

The $4.8 million rehabilitation project will begin on Thursday to the J.F.K. Memorial Bridge entering Longport. Motorists can expect delays from now until the project is completed next May, as alternating lanes will allow for construction activity. The contractor has been authorized to close one lane of the bridge on weekdays between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. The Longport bridge was built in 1963 and is used by about 8,000 vehicles per day.
