COAST GUARD TO HOST SUNSET PARADES

In celebration of “The Year of the Coast Guard Family,” Coast Guard Training Center Cape May will host four sunset parade ceremonies this summer. The first parade will be held Sunday, May 29, 2011 at 7:50 p.m.

Sunset Parades are colorful, inspiring military ceremonies featuring the recruit band, drill team, marching troops, cannon fire, and a low level fly over by a Coast Guard helicopter. The parades take place at sunset on the parade grounds and are open to the general public. There is no admission charge.

Below is the schedule for the 2011 sunset parades. The gates for the base will open 30 minutes before the event.

1. May 29, 2011 at 7:50 p.m.

2. July 3, 2011 at 8:04 p.m.

3. Aug. 7, 2011 at 7:40 p.m.

4. Sept. 4, 2011 at 7:01 p.m.

If inclement weather is predicted, the command will cancel the parade for that day.
