COAST GUARD RESPONDS TO FISHERMAN WHO SUFFERS INJURY

The Coast Guard medevaced a 50-year-old male aboard an 86-foot fishing boat after he sustained an ankle injury 35 miles east of Barnegat Light Tuesday.

Medevaced was Christopher Fittig, 50.

The Coast Guard received a call at 4 a.m. from the captain of the Carolina Boy reporting Fittig slipped on the deck and broke his left ankle.

A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Barnegat Light arrived on scene and transferred Fattig to the rescue boat and transported him back to the station where he was transferred to awaiting emergency medical personnel.
