COAST GUARD RECOVERS BODY UP THE COAST

coast_guardThe Coast Guard recovered the body of a male after clothes were found on the beach by local police in the vicinity of Long Beach Island Sunday.

The name of the male is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by local authorities.

The Coast Guard received a call at 4:48 p.m. from Long Beach Island Police Department stating one of their officers had found clothing and glasses along with iced-over footsteps leading into the water.

A 25-foot Response Boat crew from Coast Guard Station Barnegat Light, N.J., arrived on scene and located the male. CPR was conducted until he was transferred to awaiting emergency medical personnel where he was pronounced deceased at the station.
