COAST GUARD MAKES RESCUE NEAR BARNEGAT LIGHT

The Coast Guard medevaced a 29-year-old man from an 86-foot fishing vessel 66 miles off the coast of Barnegat Light after he had an asthma attack Monday.

Rescued was Joseph Barbosa, 29.

The Coast Guard received a call at approximately 8:30 a.m. over VHF-FM channel 16 from the captain of the Ilha Brava reporting Barbosa was in respiratory distress even after treatment was administered.

An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., arrived on scene and hoisted Barbosa into the helicopter and transported him to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City for treatment.
