CHRISTIE SLICES BUDGET, SIGNS IT INTO LAW

gov_christieNew Jersey Governor Chris Christie took out his knife, cut the state budget by more than $1 billion, and signed it into law.  Christie’s new state budget totals $32.5 billion and is 1.2 percent smaller than the budget Christie approved last year.  Christie took out a measure supported by the democrats that would increase taxes on the wealthy, and he also lived up to his promise and sliced a huge payment due to the pension system.   Christie says the state simply cannot afford a large pension contribution.
