CHRISTIE SKIPPING PENSION PAYMENTS TO BALANCE STATE BUDGET

gov_christieNew Jersey Governor Chris Christie announced today that he’s skipping about $1 billion in payments to the state’s pension system in order to help plug a big hole in the state’s budget.  Christie held a news conference Tuesday afternoon and announced that he will greatly reduce the next two pension payments that are due in order to pull New Jersey back into the black.  He says he “will not make the payments that apply to the sins of the past”.
