CHRISTIE READY TO BATTLE STATE WORKERS OVER CONTRACT

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie says he’s ready to battle state employees’ unions over brand new contracts in 2011. The contracts for the state workers expire this year, and Christie promises no pay increases and will demand the workers give back some of their health and benefits packages. Christie also wants to raise the retirement age and increase pension contributions by the state workers. Meetings between both sides are expected to begin after the governor’s budget address on February 22nd.
