CHRISTIE PUSHING CONSOLIDATION LEGISLATION

A new proposal could allow some area towns considering consolidation. The Department of Community Affairs could cover 20 percent of a towns merger cost under a bill proposed by Gov. Chris Christie. There are high costs that come with the initial consolidation, but can provide long term savings if done right for some communities. Christie has been pushing for towns to merge and share services where ever possible.
