New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is defending his decision to take $2.4 billion from public employees’ pensions. Christie held a news conference in Camden and stated that this is the “only option” for the state to take. 14 unions have sued Christie and the state for the move to strip the funding out of the pension program. Christie says if the state loses the lawsuit, New Jersey has no other place to turn to get the funding needed for pensions.
