A new designated cell phone lot has been created at Atlantic City International Airport (ACY) to help reduce the congestion provide safe access for motorists who are picking up arriving passengers at the airport. New signs have been posted to direct traffic into the lot, which is located adjacent to the main terminal building.
“Given our commitment to creating a stress less travel experience for our passengers, adding a cell phone lot just made sense,” said Bart R. Mueller, executive director of the South Jersey Transportation Authority, which owns and operates the airport “The lot helps us do our part in assisting law enforcement in maintaining a safe area in and around the Terminal.”
The purpose of the lot is to eliminate the need for motorists to repeatedly circle the Terminal area while waiting to pick up an arriving passenger. Drivers will be permitted to park in the lot for free in the lot until they receive a call indicating that the passenger is ready to be picked up at the curb. Vehicles should not be left unattended at any time.
“We officially opened the new lot yesterday, and so far, it seems to be very convenient for everyone, not to mention that less idling time decreases fuel emissions and helps save on gas consumption,” said Mueller.
