Cape May – Lewes Ferry officials announced the opening of the “Ferry Fresh Farmers Market” on the green of the Cape May ferry terminal. Beginning Saturday, July 2, 2011 and continuing through September 3, 2011, the market will be open every Saturday, weather permitting, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
More than twenty vendors have signed up to participate in the new market. Some of the goods and produce available include fresh vegetables and flowers, local berries and farm fresh eggs, locally grown herbs, homemade breads, baked goods and crab cakes, homemade pottery bowls, homemade salads, balsamic vinegars and oils as well as a local coffee roaster.
Michael Porch, Marketing Manager for the Cape May – Lewes Ferry noted that the initiative provides a customer service to ferry passengers and economic opportunity for local vendors. “We’re really excited to have the market here at the Cape May terminal,” Porch said. “Hopefully, the market will introduce people to the ferry operation while providing an outlet for farmers, bakers and other merchants to sell their products.”
