CAPE MAY KEEPS SMOKING ON THE BEACH FOR NOW

An ordinance that would have wiped out smoking on the beaches in Cape May failed to get enough votes to pass at Monday’s council meeting.  Council voted 2-2, with Councilwoman Deanna Fiocca not in attendance, on the ordinance.  A failure of getting a majority means Cape May will still allow smoking on its beaches.  Some members of the public spoke both for, and against, the smoking ban before the vote was tallied.
