CAPE MAY COUNTY BREAKS $100,000 MADE THROUGH ONLINE SALE

Cape May County has received over $100,000 by selling confiscated items on-line.  The County conducted seven on-line auctions from June through December of 2010 and netted $100,131.   More than 1,500 items were sold including computers, vacuum cleaners, tools, video games, kitchen items, miscellaneous household items, cameras, camping supplies and more.
The items were sold on GovDeals which is accessible through the County’s website capemaycountygov.net.  The County decided, with the significant number of items to be sold, an on-line auction would bring the most revenue to the county.  The County had used GovDeals in the past to sell a wide variety of items and felt they would be a good venue to help generate as much revenue from these items as possible.
