The City of Cape May approved it’s 2015 Municipal Budget Tuesday night with a one cent increase of the tax rate, by a vote of 3-1. Before the vote councilman Shaine Meier made a motion to move $70,000 from over a half-million dollars of budgeted legal fees to the fire department but the motion was not seconded. The new budget cuts $70,000 from salary and wages for the Cape May Fire Department, which currently employs 14 career firefighters, with only two residing within city limits.
