BREAKING NEWS: CAMDEN DIOCESE FILES FOR CHAPTER 11 BANKRUPTCY REORGANIZATION

There is devastating news in the local Catholic community today.  The Diocese of Camden has officially filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.  The Diocese serves nearly a half million Catholics in the southern New Jersey area and there’s no word on how this financial reorganization will impact parishes or local churches.  The announcement was made by The Most Reverend Dennis J. Sullivan.  Sullivan confirmed that the Diocese has paid out $8 million in sexual abuse lawsuits, and dozens of additional lawsuits are still pending.  The Diocese also notes the loss of funding during the Covid-19 pandemic.
