Incumbent Gerry Thornton and Ocean City’s Sue Sheppard easily defeated a ticket that included incumbent Ralph Bakley and Ocean City’s John McCann. Final vote totals were being tallied up Tuesday evening, and they showed about a 2-1 margin of victory for the Thornton/Sheppard ticket. A celebration for the victory was held at the Avalon Golf Club in Swainton, where both Thornton and Sheppard addressed the crowd. They will run against one declared democratic candidate, Robert Jackson.

Final vote totals:

Susan Sheppard: 5576
Ralph Bakley: 4348
John McCann: 4277
