BLACK BEAR HUNT LAGGING BEHIND LAST YEAR’S NUMBERS

This week’s black bear hunt in New Jersey is slower than last year’s hunt.  New Jersey regulators say 165 bears have been killed this week, which is more than 30 below last year’s one week hunt.  Officials say the bears are getting smarter and now know to avoid hunters.  The hunt has drawn the ire of animal rights activists.
